Q: Who is Jared?
A: In the United States & Canada there is a submarine sandwich chain restaurant that has a spokesperson who lost a significant amount of weight by utilizing a diet consisting of their sandwiches. His starting weight was 425lbs, my "unofficial" starting weight was 510lbs.
Q: What do you mean by "unofficial" starting weight?
A: My "
unofficial" weight was somewhere in the neighborhood of 510lbs. The last time I could be weighed on a scale that could handle the load was in May of 2003. At that time my weight was 481lbs. It was another 9 months before I started my weight loss journey - we figure I put on another 30lbs or so in that timeframe.
Q: Isn't what you are doing considered a "diet"?
A: In conventional terms, yes. I look at it more like a lifestyle change. Diets conjure up negative, restrictive feelings which cause many to fail. A lifestyle change has positive connotations, a change can be tweaked and manipulated to maximize the desired result.
Q: Okay, cut the suspense. How did you lose over 250lbs without the surgery?
A: It was a combination of commitment, exercise, portion control, & accountability. I will have an e-book available shortly that details exactly how I did it.
Q: How can I get you to come and speak to my group/school/church?
A: Check out the "Speaking Engagements" page for information or use the "Contact us" page.
Q: What does your wife think about your achievement?
A: Honestly, she is ecstatic. Before people were like, "Why the heck is she with him?", and now they are like, "How the heck did she snag him?" She is both proud and thankful for my commitment not only to myself, but to my family and my mission to help others.
